Brief

Setting the Stage for a Visual Transformation

The project was commissioned by a Prague-based band looking for custom visual artwork for their upcoming album's single releases. The band wanted to capture the unique essence of each single through typography that reflected their sound and energy, while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across the album. My task was to create three distinct typographic designs that could serve as both cover art for the singles and as part of a larger visual presentation for their live shows. The goal was to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern digital execution, bringing their music to life visually and complementing their energetic stage presence.

Process

From Hand-Drawn Sketches to Digital Form

The project began with an exploration of the band’s music, style, and identity. I sketched each typographic design by hand, carefully aligning the visual style to match the distinct sound and mood of each single. Once the sketches were finalized, I transferred them into digital form, ensuring that the intricate, hand-drawn qualities were preserved in the digital environment. This transition also allowed for more experimentation with colors, textures, and layout, optimizing the designs for both print (as cover art) and digital media (for live show visuals).

Solution

The Impact of Custom Design on Music Promotion

The final deliverables included three custom typographic artworks, each used as the cover art for the band’s singles and incorporated into the backdrop of their live performances. The visuals were not only impactful in static formats, but they also transitioned seamlessly into dynamic, large-scale visuals for the stage. The hand-crafted style, combined with digital precision, perfectly captured the band's raw, yet polished musical style, enhancing both their album promotion and live shows. The project strengthened the band’s visual identity and received positive feedback from fans, reinforcing the connection between their music and its visual representation.
